Because all materials that conduct electric current provide some electrical resistance, even highly conductive materials such as electrical wire and connectors of plug generate some waste heat. The grinder also has a motor inside which is bound to heat. Yes, there's a fan provided on the rotor which rotates at the same speed thereby producing a jet of air which is sucked from one side and discarded through vents, thereby carrying some heat from inside to outside. So in case of prolonged usage, remember to give grinder some rest to increase its life span.
