not as fast as european 240-volt models
I visit my brother in Europe almost annually, and two things there are really nice: 1) great instant coffee and 2) great electric kettle. But what makes a great electric kettle is SPEED - it has to heat the water quickly. And with the puny 120 voltsAC current we have in the US, the power isn't there. Your neighborhood electrical engineer will remind you that power goes as the SQUARE of the voltage - hence the European kettle heats water four times faster than the US. (no, you can't drop the resistance to increase the power, because then the current will exceed what your house wiring will handle, typically 15 amperes)OK, I live in the US, so how does this kettle do? Given that it takes 5 minutes to boil enough water for 2, 12-ounce cups of coffee, it's great. Stainless steel inside never gets cruddy (heat up 1:4 vinegar solution to de-calcify it), you can set a preferred hot-water temperature to "hold hot" (if coffee is cool enough to drink, it's too cold), and my tea-drinking wife can set the hold temp for her preferred tea brewing temp (190 F, don't ask me why!). And heat doesn't transmit well through the insulated outside of the kettle.Recommended! Would buy again.

Simple and Easy
This is a very nice teapot that we can fill up and use without having to heat over the stove or refilling the usual water tank of your single coffee machine if necessary. It keeps the water hot for 4 hrs without the reheating so I'm able to have a few cups of tea without waiting. It's a nice addition in our kitchen for my husband and I.

Surprisingly good
I took a chance and ordered this electric kettle even though it has no ratings and found it to be very full featured. I think I'll actually be buying a 2nd one to keep one at home and another at my office. It has a very nice design with LCD lights integrated into the body of the kettle. It has 2 touch sensitive buttons that lets you cycle through multiple preset temperatures and turn on/off the boiling. Once the kettle reaches the set temperature, it will continue to keep the water at that temperature. For a kettle of this size, the 1000W rating is plenty good. It's not drawing so much power that I worry about tripping circuits but it's enough power to boil a cup of water from a tepid 75F to 200F in about 90 seconds, which is plenty fast for me.When the kettle is docked, the LCD display stays on to show the temperature of your pot or water. The kettle keeps a memory of your last setting. For example, let's say you're using the kettle and you last had it on at 185F. You run out of hot water so you undock the kettle to add more water. Once you dock the kettle back on the base, it will immediately go back to bringing your water back up to 185F.So far I'm pretty impressed with this thing. I don't know about the longevity yet. But I hope it lasts.

Not the smartest kettle, but useable
Ok, let's go over the basics:This is a small kettle- it holds about 3 1/2 cups filled to the max line (notably under the top of the unit to allow boiling), or enough for 2-2 1/2 mugs, depending on your mug's size. Boil time is about 4 minutes from a room temperature of about 70°F to full boil for a full kettle. The unit is cool to the touch even after a full boil, save for around the seam of the lid. It's a basic pull-off top with a rubber gasket, & condensation is MIGHTY- you'll need to be very careful if you want a dry counter when removing the lid. It holds heat OK- after a full boil it stayed over 200° for about 30 minutes & over 100° for the next 2 hours. Now, the smart functions- it's not great. It isn't very intuitive, for one thing. To full boil, press Heat/Stop & wait for the beeps. That's easy enough. If you want to use one of the presets though? You press Temp to cycle the numbers- and you'll probably need to because it's finicky- then DON'T TOUCH ANYTHING. It actually takes it several seconds to figure out you want that temp & start up. If you press Heat/Stop, it just resets. The preset Temps are oddly chosen- I make a lot of tea, I've learned some numbers- white & green tea to 175°, oolong to 195°- this kettle? Options at 167° & 185°. So, kind of useless for tea. What's more problematic- it doesn't actually stop at the preset temp! I've tried a couple, & it always goes 3-5 degrees higher than what you choose. Doesn't beep for preset temps either, so you'll have to guess when it's ready & hope you come back after it's overheated & cooled back to the right number. Now, it's honestly not a hard workaround if you're willing to watch it a bit- just use Heat/Stop for a full boil, & hit the stop button when it's where you want it. The display is big & easy to read without being overly bright.I'd say this is a good secondary kettle. Keep it in a home office, or maybe a camper- someplace you're only going to be making an occasional cup of boiled water. If you're looking for a daily driver, something for a full family to use, or really need good tempature presets? Look for something better.

I love this little thing
This electric kettle is amazing. It's so easy to use and program what temp you want the liquid to be heated at. It heats up very quickly too. I've had no issues with it leaking when I'm pouring out my hot water and I love how out clicks into the power base. It also has no smell while heating. It is a bit on the smaller size, so it would probably make a good amount of hot water for about 2 cups of tea at a time I'd guess.

Looks nice, heats fast
Keeps the current temperature on the screen. Heats up quickly. Stainless steel interior should stain or be hard to clean. This is good quality for the price. Excited to make my nightly tea when winter arrives soon.
