## Overview

BIODUDE Terra Aranea is a 6-quart bioactive substrate designed for tarantulas, scorpions, isopods, and millipedes. It promotes plant growth, ensures proper aeration and drainage, maintains humidity balance, and supports natural burrowing behaviors, creating a sustainable and thriving ecosystem for your vivarium.

## Description

The BioDudes handcrafted bioactive substrate for Tarantulas, Scorpions, Spiders, Vinegaroons and other invertebrates. Terra Aranea is a one of a kind substrate that was thoroughly tested for over a year prior to it's release in 2019. Terra Aranea substrate is specifically designed for all biomes that can get very dry and arid or in a high humidity biome. This substrate is designed to hold the perfect amount of water while allowing for evaporation reinforcing positive symbiotic relationships. , which is a common fight when dealing with inverts and terrariums. When used in conjunction with the Bio Shot it encourages the full self-cleaning, self-maintaining bioactive environment, while ensuring your invert gets the exact husbandry they need, without the worry of harmful molds and bacterias. Terra Aranea also retains all burrows and hides. I have found this substrate brings out many of the instinctual niches that many different invertebrates do in their daily life. Not only does it hold a burrow, it also holds a complete tunnel when the moisture content is held at 25%-75%. Terra Aranea provides excellent organic nutrition for your vivarium by creating necessary air pockets for root development and plant health. These air pockets are also necessary for the springtails and isopods to create a sustainable population in the vivarium. Note: Each 6 qt bag of Terra Aranea weights 3.25 lbs. It is recommended to add the Bio Dude's BioShot to promote bioactivity in your substrate. You can also add springtails, isopods, or earwigs. They are not included, only the single bag of handcrafted substrate. To obtain the self-cleaning, self-maintaining aspect you must add at least one of the above mentioned for optimal performance.

Review: Very nice! - This substrate comes highly recommended by just about every notable tarantula keeper out there and so far, I see why. It seems to have everything you could need in it. Holds moisture nicely. Holds its shape well for spiders that need to burrow. The size of the ingredients is suitable for even tiny slings. And the organic material is useful for keeping CUC happy too. (Added dried leaves and such to mine as well.) I’ve had 0.5” Cyriocosmus slings on this for around three weeks so far and everything seems well. I noticed a little bit of mold growing up near one of the water dishes but I hadn’t added any springtails at that point. Added temperate springtails and now everything seems balanced. Nothing funky growing anywhere. Slings seem happy, so I’m happy. My only issue is that I had to order this via desertcart in the first place, to avoid the crazy shipping rates. Around $25-$26 just for supplies, no live bugs, animals or plants, and regardless of the weight/contents of the package. Yikes. Hopefully The Bio Dude gets enough traffic to be able to find/qualify for lower shipping costs. I’d love to use affiliate codes to also help support creators like Tarantula Collective but I can’t justify $25 shipping for supplies when the cost to ship live (non-venomous) critters/plants elsewhere is almost half that. 😞 This substrate costs more on desertcart, but it’s still cheaper ordering here than if I had to pay shipping ordering direct from The Bio Dude. (For just this substrate: $35+ via the website, or $26-ish, after tax, via desertcart.) Especially considering I only have three, tiny slings at the moment and don’t need enough supplies to make it balance out.
Review: Good substrate for my tarantula :) - I am no soil/substrate expert but this stuff seems really nice. I recently decided to purchase a curly hair tarantula and wanted the best stuff I could find prior to getting my tarantula. This way everything would be set up snd ready to go for my new pet. He or she burrowed right down in and seems to be happy. I wish I had purchased the larger bag for future substrate changes. I will next time. Thank you for the quick shipping.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: I can't find any info on Bio Shot which was recommended in the description, can anyone help?**
A: The Bio Dude BioShot for bioactive Substrate - Soil inoculant and Plant Booster for terrariums and vivariums https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09RBFWGFY/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_X1EEFPVNPCMCKRQJG2R3?psc=1

**Q: Does this contain sphagnum moss?**
A: Bio Dude has a few different kinds. You will need to read the description to know.

**Q: Need to fill my 12x8x8 tank about 4 inches, how many 6 quart bags are required?**
A: Thank you for reaching out to us here at The Bio Dude Houston.

When it comes to a tank of that size (12"x8"x8"). One 6 quart bag of our Terra Aranea Substrate should be plenty enough to get you a four inch layer and then even some to work with, as its not a substrate that should be packed down heavily and condensed.

Hope that helps, let us know if you have any other questions.

**Q: Does this contain coco fiber/choir?**
A: I don't know. I would go to the website for further information.
