The waves and lines go in the opposite direction of what is printed on the paper surrounding the magnet so you need to turn the magnet at a 45-degree angle. Hold the magnet to the side of the nail polish to see how the design will look. The #6 wand does a completely different design than what's printed. It is just a wave of some sort.The yellow pen doesn't work at all. The round end of the wand does nothing and the other end, cat's eye, is way off-center so it's basically useless. For the price, it's okay to play with and try the technique but there has to be a better set of magnets out there. Others, like the heart for example, are too large and don’t fit on any size nail. I really wanted to use the heart but you either get the two humps or the V on the bottom.
