The body and neck have all the holes and pockets machined and fret board and frets installed. It does need a lot of sanding and leveling compound applied to the mahogany back and neck to fill the porous texture and a little adjustment to how the neck fits into the body. All of this is to be expected it is a kit and they have done a lot of the work for you but you should expect to do all the prep work before applying the finishing. The hardware is not top of the line but that is not to be expected for the price. You should be able to make a really nice guitar with this kit, but as stated you need to do prep work before slapping on finish or stain as with any wood working project. There is glue over runs that need sanded off, binding that needs trimmed down, leveling compound is needed in order to achieve a smooth finish, sanding - sanding -sanding to get small imperfections out and get the sufaces ready for stain and what ever finish ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ I finished this kit and I am satisfied with the result *by B***A on July 5, 2014* I finished this kit and I am satisfied with the result. I did buy Gibson pickups and installed quality pots and strings. A word of caution regarding some of the kits from China. Some require moving the neck back about an 1/8" from where they would have you install it in order for it to achieve intonation. Easy to do but will require you filling in the gaps that are created by thisprocedure. A small sliver of wood in two spots will take care of the problem. Be sure you measure from nut to center of nearest bridge post to assure that it measures correctly to allow intonation. My sources tell me it should measure 24 and 13/16". Using that measurement my build turned out fine with no intonation problems. I mention it only to alert you that your kit may not be entirely accurate in this regard and once you glue the neck in you're out of luck if it's wrong. ### ⭐ This is a bad product *by H***3 on July 19, 2017* I bought this and when I had the whole thing together and built correctly I tried to string it. I tried to put the strings on and the whole neck was in the way.
