I used it to hide the wiring for my Samsung rear surround module. The face plate easily accepted 16g wire which I then chased into the wall.Now the unit is a continental type of fitting and I wondered if I would need to get a continental back box to suit. However, I tried it with a plastic plasterboard gripping back box and found it works well providing you mount it with the screw holes top and bottom rather than at the sides (this involves removing the M3 screws the unit comes with and using normal M4 face plate screws in the slotted positions). Fitting doesn't work as well with a metal pattress box as the face will sit level with the box and not the plasterboard.
