Review: If you can get this on offer for £30 - go for it! - This is my new favourite Scottish single malt for around £30. Dalwhinnie Winter’s Gold used to be (probably) my favourite, but not any more. It’s got a decent amount of complexity at this price level, and is very smooth and easy to drink with a decent bit of body. It’s 46% (which is I guess why you have decent depth of flavour) naturally coloured and chill filtered but has no age declaration. I prefer it to (say) Bushmills 10 though. It’s got fruit and creamy caramel notes with a bit of a tang and a tiny touch of spice. I’m not a fan of overly spicy whisky, so this is smooth and elegant. You’ll struggle to get a better everyday tipple for this price anywhere and has more complexity than you typically get at the £30 mark.

I'd been eyeing this up for a while in my basket. It was reduced in price, so I thought let's take a punt on it. Thankfully I made the correct decision. The flavours are exquisite, and its colourings are natural from the barrels. It's none peated, which I have a preference for, so the smokiness isn't so full on, if you're trying it for the first time. If sceptical like I was at the start, then I would say, "don't hang about, get it into your basket, and delivered as quickly as possible." You certainly won't be disappointed, I guarantee this.
