It was very easy to cut down to the required 89cms (I seem to have got shorter in later years) I have fitted it with the narrowest of rubber ferrules, as I need it for support and I don't want it skidding away from me. I shall be using it for evening functions and the odd posh do, as it is a lot more elegant than my day-time sticks. My only criticism is that had it been more tapered it would have been extremely elegant. This destroys the usefulness of reviews.. Mine fits the advertised description. The cane is in one piece, with a metal top that screws on. It ends in a small rubber tip which looks nice, but perhaps would not last very long. The stick was too long for me so I cut off several inches and fitted a rubber ferule. The ferule was 22mm inside measurement, which tells you how thick the stick is. It is a sturdy stick meant for walking, not just for show. It is impossible to believe that it would break in use. It is obvious from the reviews that some customers have received different products, which destroys the usefulness of the reviews. My stick conforms well to the advertised description. It is black, with a sturdy one- piece cane and a metal knob that screws on securely. It ends in a small rubber tip which looks nice but might not last long. The stick was too long for me so I cut off several inches and fitted a stout rubber ferule. The inside measurement of the ferule was 22mm, which tells you how thick the stick is. It is meant as a stick for walking, not just for show. It is impossible to believe that it would break in use. I find it rather heavy, and the knob not very comfortable. The knob would be better smooth and not so elaborately moulded.
