The connector is the old 30pin style like those have. **Q: no power light come on** A: Once you plug the device the light turns on **Q: Can it work on iphone3gs and ipad 3?** A: I found that the iM2 does not work with the iphone 4s, although it is stated on the box that it does. I initially returned it when it didn't work on my 4s, and when the replacement came, it also didn't work, but worked on my son's iphone 4 (no 's'). I assume it will work on any iphone before the 4s that has that same connector, but I only know for sure what I stated. I don't own an Ipad, and didn't try it out on one, so have nothing to offer on that device. **Q: Mic input size is...? 1.5?** A: The TASCAM iM2 is essentially two microphones. It attaches directly to your iPhone 4/4S, 4th gen iPod touch or iPad/iPad2 through the 30-pin dock connector port where you would connect your power/sync cable. I've read that others have successfully used newer devices with a 30-pin > lightning adaptor. It works very well. Of course, you can't use it for professional recordings, but it's very clear and very much improved on the built in microphone. I've used it with an ipad 2 and an iphone 4s. A word of advice though, when recording with an iphone you need to put it into airplane mode. If you don't, you'll get interference in your recordings caused by the phone's radio.You can turn the stereo mics in order to point them in different directions (they turn as a pair, not individually). It also has it's own pre-amp, volume controls and limiter. There's an app you can download made by Tascam which is very good, but the mic is also supported by other apps. However, the only app I've tested it with, besides the Tascam app, is MultiTrack and it works fine.I'd also like to mention that this mic is excellent at recording voice conversation if you wanted to use it as a dictaphone.
