The PH-80 measures pH and Temperature. Features include one-touch automatic digital calibration,water resistant body, simultaneous temperature display, sleek, lightweight design, a large LCD display, Automatic Temperature Compensation (ATC), Auto-off function, data-hold function and low-battery indicator. Each meter includes storage solution and a single use pH 7.0 buffer pack. The PH-80 is factory calibrated for your convenience and can easily and quickly be recalibrated with digital calibration to pH 4.0, 7.0 or 10.0 using the meter's simple one-touch process. Includes a cap, batteries, storage solution and pH 7.0 buffer. Directions 1. Remove the pH meter from its packaging. 2. Insert the batteries and ensure they are functioning properly. 3. Calibrate the meter using the one-touch digital calibration process and the provided pH 7.0 buffer. 4. Immerse the probe in the solution to be tested. 5. Read the pH value from the LCD display. 6. After use, clean the probe and store it in the storage solution in the sponge embedded in the translucent cap.

Review: PH80 - Very good value. - HM make very good kit and this budget PH pen is one of the best I have used, very accurate and very simple. The only complaint is that it could do with a larger LCD readout, other than that perfect. Very highly recommended.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Is this device suitable to use for when making jam, marmalades and chutney**
A: As long as you can get the jam on the probe i would think so. I have no jam but just tested on tomato ketchup and it works good.

**Q: Is this ph meter suitable for founding out if you still have lye in your soap?**
A: Don't know I'm afraid. I use it solely for the PH in my pond. If you were to dissolve some soap in a cup of water then test you would get an idea providing you knew what the PH of the water was in the first place. But it would not be accurate. And i guess any meter of this standard would be similar in its findings. The meter itself is average to good, but not brilliant. Hope this helps.

**Q: Has anyone tried to measure the pH of different foods with this pH meter?**
A: No I haven't, but experience tells me it will work OK for dilute solutions of liquid foods.

**Q: is it adequate for field testing  ph**
A: I haven't used it for that purpose so therefore unable to comment.    Sorry.

HM make very good kit and this budget PH pen is one of the best I have used, very accurate and very simple. The only complaint is that it could do with a larger LCD readout, other than that perfect. Very highly recommended.

I have been through a lot of different ph pens, I did buy this same pen 18 months ago and it's worked flawlessly until I misplaced it and then it was never found. Within those 18 months it only needed re calibration once. So I have took this opportunity to let you all know it is worth every penny.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Does the job once calibrated, but not the best.

Definitely a step up from the cheap £12 ones, but a step down from the apera ph20 which has served me for the last 2 years. Unfortunately I was in need of this meter quickly and the apera comes from the US and would have taken 2 weeks to arrive. Out of the box it required calibration as it was reading 0.4 out. So if you are using for hydroponics and need high accuracy I'd make sure to calibrate before first use. The build quality is fair, again not as nice in the hand as the apera but it doesn't feel too cheap. Once calibrated it works well and reads true. Can't comment on longevity yet as I've only had it a day! The screen is small and difficult to read and isn't backlit, however it does clearly show temperature and PH so I can't complain too much So to summarise, go for it if you need it tomorrow and you have prime, but if you can wait, go for the apera ph20 it's only £10 more and has a proven track record.
