The flicker effect is subtle and pleasant, though I do wish it were a bit more pronounced to better mimic a real flame. That said, it still creates a warm, ambient feel without being distracting. I could have gone the high-end PB $49/taper route but I just couldn’t see spending $150 for a $30 holder. And those remotes are sold separately. So I went down the rabbit hole here. So many have great reviews but were frequently returned. I settled on these since they didn’t have the “Frequently Returned Item” moniker. When they arrived I was annoyed as they do not have a wax coating. Thought I’d give them a go anyway. So glad I did!! I love them. My PB obsessed daughter loves them and thought they were high-end. And they don’t drain your batteries. First night on for several hours then yesterday turned them on around 4pm, forgot to turn them off last night and noticed it first thing when I woke up @ 8am and they were still ablaze. PROS -look great -Remote works -don’t drain batteries -has a candle and light setting. Candle setting flickers, light is steady light -Remote has dimming settings, and timers. CON -no wax covering
