There was a small chip on one of mine when it was delivered, but I decided it was too much trouble to return it. I drink a lot of water with ice, and I was always putting paper towels over my current coasters because the glass sweats so much. Of course, it wasn't a stable base and I spilled quite a bit of water by accident. These are just great at absorbing liquid. They also don't scratch your furniture.
