Fabric did not have an odor (a plus!). The color did not rub off onto a white onesie the baby was wearing. The buttons are a little messy, but if you follow top to bottom, they are fine. You can tell that this is literally a cutout of a pattern and the edges are stitched together. The fabric is just one layer of fabric sewn along the edges.
