**Q: "vg10 damascus steel"? not possible. vg10 is not a damascus steel. so which is it? vg10 or damascus?**
A: Vg10 is the core and the Damascus technique is used with  the cobalt and Nickle for the layers... vg10 steel is a common core with Damascus  knives.

**Q: is this real damascus steel?**
A: I think so, it was a gift for my father in law he loves it.

**Q: Is this spring assisted?**
A: No. It is not. Doesn't seem to be true Damascus either. It is still neat.

**Q: How sturdy is the belt clip?**
A: I’ve been carrying my Albatross knife by the belt clip for about 9 months now, including when riding my motorcycle. I’ve had no issues and I don’t have any worries about losing it. But I would recommend checking that the screws are tight now and then. Otherwise the clip is quite sturdy.

I don't often give five-star reviews and this one deserves it purely from a first impression view point, given that I only have had it for 1 day. The knife is sharp at arrival and the build quality is very decent. Based on my limited knowledge about the subject and the pictures taken from my semi-pro camera I believe that the blade is made of Damascus Steel - so much for all the older reviews that implied otherwise, which are probably from a competitor who can't compete in a honorable manner (, unless the older version of this product was made differently.)
