    Awesome for Fly Tying

*by M***D on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on February 10, 2015*

Ever since I heard about this stuff, I've wanted to try it. I've been tying flies for several years now, and I've used all types of glues out there. Super glue is fast, but it usually dries with a white residue, and sometimes flows into areas you don't want it. Two-part epoxy dries hard and fairly fast, but has that yellowish tint, and is a pain to mix and use before it's workable time is up. Nail polish is a great option, but it takes more time to dry, and is not as durable. I wasn't sure if this would be hype, or if it was as good as I had read. After using it to tie a few flies, I love it. The consistency of this product is somewhat thicker than honey. It does not flow into the threads like head cement does. There is a product called Clear Cure Goo Hydro which I understand is a bit thinner. That might be the better product for soaking into the threads. I was able to use my bodkin to work it into the thread, and lock everything in place. It's great for coating a popper or securing dumbell eyes. You can also add a touch to the wraps of lead wire. Hit it with a UV light for a couple seconds, and it's dry. And best yet, it's completely tack free. There is no need for any kind of topcoat. My favorite use is to mix in a little glitter, and then cure it to add some sparkle to the fly. It is a fantastic product.NOTE: The company that makes this product sells a UV flashlight for around $30. There is no need to spend that much. I bought this one from Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004S6JFWQ/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_11It was around eight bucks, and it worked great. I also ordered one from an auction site for around three dollars. It hasn't arrived yet, so I can't say if it will work as well, but the specs are identical, so I'm sure it will.

A Light Curing Resin That Does What I Need

*by M***T on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on February 21, 2013*

Light curing resins (LCRs) are becoming the rage for fly tiers, as it provides a good substitute for epoxy in many cases. The tier brushes the LCR onto a surface and then shines a light (different colors for different products) to cure it.My primary use is to quickly make flies more durable. A small drop cured over a wing case will make the fly more durable. As an example, I use it rather than epoxy for tying Copper Johns. They are no less durable than with epoxy and it is much less bother to do the job. CCG also makes a great coating for chironomid fly patterns. I first saw this when I found a Youtube video of Davie McPhail tying a Grey Boy Buzzer. If you've been using epoxy and find it a bit of a nuisance try CCG. If you need it to be more durable yet, overcoat it with glossy head cement. If you would like to make some of your nymphs more durable this is a good product to do it.An issue is the speed with which LCRs dry. This dries cleanly with no tack in under 10 seconds. I like that as it keeps me churning out flies. I recommend their pro light to do that. This past week I tied a couple of hundred midges in preparation for spring fishing, and the speed with which this dries made that possible.
