My second shelf will not have any studs, but my anchors will hold 159 pounds. I like them. I have three. I have a 20 lb., 3', Maine coon and him and his slightly smaller sister both love them. I find the shelves themselves are very well made. All the pieces are very solidly connected, nothing loose, nothing wobbled. It would depend on the type of wall anchor you use to determine what weight it will support. Adequate anchors come with the shelf along with a screwdriver and instructions. I wouldn't say my cats LOVE LOVE LOVE them, but one cat really enjoys the shelf and goes up to snooze and watch his brothers from higher up, maybe because they like to pick on the poor guy. You can check out my setup in the photos. That's Sylvester on the leaf. He's the #1 user of the shelves. My boy Mimi will periodically go up on them as well, maybe every other day. I do like the quality of the shelves and the finish. I mounted in to cinder block wall with appropriate anchors. I would like to recommend not using the screw caps that come with the hardware kit. I think the screw caps look cheap/tacky. Instead, since I needed to get screws of a particular size anyway, I got screws that had a matching brown head, and they look so much better than if I had even wanted to use the plastic caps. All in all I'm a happy customer. The price is a little up there, but I do think that the shelves are worth it, particularly if you consider the free shipping! I have more on order (as well as the Lotus Branch longer shelf) to provide Apricot with plenty of roaming space up and out of the way of Logan's prying snout.The shelf appears to be very well made and study, with no issue whatsoever holding Apricot aloft, despite her rather zafdig figure. She's 18lbs and the shelf has no problem holding her without any sagging or drooping.The color is nice and uniform, and the Berber carpet on top is also dark, ensuring a somewhat uniform appearance. It arrived in a box surrounded by 3/4"(ish) styrofoam. This might be a problem with some shippers with "enthusiastic" delivery people.Hanging the shelf was simple (4 screws into studs), and goes much better when you use a drill/driver.
