I see so many people answering questions that really have not learned how this machine CAN be used. YES, you can still get benefits from it while sitting in a chair, and resting your feet on it. It has helped many elderly people get circulation in their legs and feet, and is better than a therapist trying to massage their legs, or do the simple movements for them of pushing their legs to a bent position, and then straightening them back out. Highly recommend, even if the person can only SIT and use it. Others have even used it by placing it on a table, and resting their hands on it to give circulation to their arms and upper body. Some people definitely need to think outside the box, and the person asking the question is doing just that.
