It is definitely very firm. I mainly use this pillow to elevate my legs/feet whenever I'm reading in bed. I've found that elevating my legs while sitting in bed for extended periods helps relieve stress on my lower back. It provides great support and does not go flat under the weight of my legs over time like others I've tried.I sometimes also lie down on my back with it. The firm pillow arches my back, giving it a good stretch while not being painful like those foam rollers you see at the gym.Unboxing: I like that the pillow came in full size, no waiting period to allow the pillow to expand into shape. It was ready to use out of the box. The cover is soft and plush to the touch. The zipper on it does look dainty and I wonder if it will break so I am avoiding messing with it.
