## Overview

The ENGINEER SS-03 Solder Sucker is a professional-grade desoldering pump crafted in Japan with a durable aluminum body and a heat-resistant silicone nozzle rated up to 350°C. Its spring-loaded vacuum system delivers powerful suction for efficient solder removal with minimal residue. Designed for one-handed use, it includes spare silicone tubes and a self-cleaning shaft to maximize productivity and ease of maintenance, making it the top choice for serious electronics professionals.

## Description

This desoldering pump is at the cutting edge of solder removal technology. The flexible heat resistant silicone tip allows the the nozzle to come into direct contact with the soldering iron without damage and allows the nozzle to 'envelope' the solder joint. This dramatically improves suction and therefore less solder residue remains after each press/action. Easily disassembled for quick maintenance. The ENGINEER SS-03 comes with two spare silicone tubes of differing widths which can be cut down to yield several fresh nozzles (ENGINEER SS-16 & ENGINEER SS-17 replacement silicone tubes which fit the SS-03 are also available to buy separately on desertcart)

Review: Excellent professional-grade solder sucker - Excellent professional-grade solder sucker — worth every penny This ENGINEER SS-03 (Made in Japan) is hands-down the best desoldering pump I’ve used. The aluminum body feels solid and well-machined, the spring action is strong and consistent, and the heat-resistant silicone nozzle (rated to 350°C) lets you get right up against the joint without melting or deforming. Suction is noticeably stronger than the cheap plastic ones, so it pulls solder cleanly in fewer attempts and leaves far less residue. It comes with two spare silicone tubes of different diameters, which is a nice touch — you can cut them to length as the tips wear. One-handed operation is easy once you get the rhythm, and the compact size works well even in tighter spaces. Helpful tips for best results • Heat the joint thoroughly so the solder is fully molten before you trigger the pump. A good thermal connection makes a huge difference in how cleanly it clears. • Press the silicone tip firmly against the pad/joint so it “envelopes” the area — this seals better and maximizes suction. • Empty the chamber regularly. Don’t let a big wad of solder build up inside. • For cleaning: Only unscrew it from the nozzle (front) side. Never unscrew the plunger side. Doing so will ruin the seal and permanently destroy the suction ability. Stick to the nozzle end when you need to clean or replace the silicone tip. • After cleaning, a very light coat of dielectric grease on the plunger/spring area (sparingly) can help keep things moving smoothly and reduce sticking, but don’t overdo it. • Keep a couple of the spare silicone tips cut and ready so you can swap quickly if one gets clogged or worn. If you do a lot of desoldering (through-hole components, connectors, etc.), this tool will save you time and frustration compared to budget suckers or relying only on braid. Highly recommended.
Review: Useful and satisfying to use - I just purchased this and used it once, the action is smooth, and it does the job. Fit and finish are high quality aluminum, and it’s a sturdy tool. The anodized red color is a very nice touch. Sometimes pressing the plunger expels bits of previously pulled solder, and this can be unexpected, because not necessarily all the solder expels from a single plunge/pop piston cycle. Sometimes no solder comes out after plunging, or a refrozen tube or flakes of solder will be stuck partway inside the silicone tip, so it could fall out or be plunged out unexpected and drop onto your work if you’re not careful. Expensive, since it comes from Japan, but seems worth it as I haven’t found a cheaper alternative as nice as this one seems. The silicone tip does not seem to melt or get burned by 703°F soldering iron tip while very briefly heating the solder to pull off the board with suction, but the tubing is rated for 350°C/662°F. Two tubes are included, a few inches long each, having different hole diameters, and can be cut to length to replace damaged tubing. Packaging description is written mostly in Japanese, but has some English as well. Instruction manual does have adequate English to describe intended operation and usage. Silicone grease, not included, is recommended during reassembly after disassembly for cleaning, for the screw threads the and inside shaft. It also says to never unscrew the top plunger or else the suction capability of the tool will fail.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Best solder sucker I've bought...
*by A***C on July 16, 2026*

Been soldering for about 4 decades now, and I've used many solder suckers during that time. This has been, hands-down, the best solder sucker I've bought. No, it's not powered ... but boy is it powerful! Coat the spring and the inside of the cylinder with a thin coat of dielectric grease to ensure the sucked solder doesn't stick to the spring or the inside of the cylinder, and you will LOVE this thing. Unlike with the hard, white plastic PTFE tips on lesser solder suckers that melts, the silicone rubber on this one's tip doesn't melt so you can press it right against your soldering iron tip and the solder joint for an effective and air-tight seal, to suck that molten solder away. And if your silicone tip does eventually get a lil buggered up, they even included spare lengths of tubing! 11/10 would buy again.
