Review: What A WOW This was for me!! - Let me start from the beginning...I have two very large Labrador retrievers, one black one chocolate. They shed like there is NO TOMORROW. Years ago, my mom gave us a Rumba as a Christmas gift in the hopes that it might relieve me of the nightmare life I live in when it comes to dog hair. Well to no avail, the Rumba conked out on us within a month. She was convinced I never set it up and for years have had to convince her that it broke because there is SO MUCH HAIR from these dogs. So I pretty much assumed I would never be a great candidate for a robot vacuum cleaner. Well flash forward to October 2024, I have just come home from a 5 day trip to Mexico with my BFF and only to realize that my husband (who stayed home) hadn't vacuumed dog hair the ENTIRE time I was gone. He wasn't home when I walked in and y'all the gates of hell opened up and the fury (and dog hair) exploded around and throughout me! He was on the golf course that day and quickly pushed me to VM when I called to chew him out about his bad decision to not vacuum the mountain of dog hair that had grown over a five day period. The hair tumble weeds had developed their own tumble weeds. When I heard his chippy voice on his voicemail, I decided "to hell with this", I'm going to buy the most expensive vacuum cleaner I can find on desertcart just to "show him". Well the jokes on me because what was supposed to slap him the wallet (aka his love language) turned out to be the VERY BEST PURCHASE I'VE MADE IN THE LAST 24 YEARS OF MARRIAGE!!! This vacuum cleaner is truly a miracle. It doesn't do super great with the dog hair as far as automatically emptying into the bin, I have to clean it out manually more often than not. But it sure as heck vacuums the hair up! It knows the space it's working in, it will mop over and over again until it is cleaned to it's programmed satisfaction. It is super quiet, my two dogs are not bothered by it all, and my floors have NEVER-EVER-EVER looked better! They get mopped daily and vacuumed twice a day for good measure. I've had it since the last week of October and still haven't had to replace the cleaning formula to a new bottle. I feel like I have a personal assistant who dutifully cleans my floors and makes what was once a really time consuming and annoying daily venture a thing of the past. I haven't pulled out a mop since I got it. It cleans my baseboards, warms up the water when it washes the floors and just goes about doing it's thing. For as often that it mops, the water is still dirty when I empty the bin. But that goes to show how nasty floors with dogs get when they are walking in and out of the house. This is the best mad purchase I've ever made. Oh and funny thing is...he never even said a word about me buying the darn thing. He sees me happy and acts like this was the plan all along when I flew off to Mexico and came home to the piled up dog hair. He says this was his way of making me happy. So happy ending to an annoying day that turned out to be one of the best decisions of 2024!! Spend the money...it's worth every penny!!
Review: Decent vacuum/mop just wish it wasn't so expensive - **Update: It's been nearly a year and unfortunately the base station and robot had issues with the charging connection. I followed the recommended steps to troubleshoot but ultimately had to send in the whole unit for warranty repairs. They sent back the base station and robot about a week later but when I opened the box the vacuum was now broken, the power cord was missing and the base station was not the one I sent back. The whole base station smells horrible and has water left in both tanks, what looks like mold growing in some spots and has multiple scratches as well as stickers left on. While the company has been willing to repair/replace the robot for the damage while in their hands (or in transit) they have refused to take back and replace the base station with a clean one at the very least. I have been arguing eith them for over a week now to fix this and their only reply is to send me a free bottle of the cleaner for the robot as well as 2 dust bags and 1 mop pad. I am to the point of not wanting to ever purchase or recommend this company or any of it's products. **Update: It's been about 6 or 7 weeks now and the vacuum won't start. I keep getting an error code 1019 but the app does not explain what it means. Google helped but after rebooting it 2x and completely cleaning the base and the vacuum as well as replacing some parts just to be safe it still won't start. I called support and had to leave a message so I will update my review depending on what support does and how soon they call back.** **Update 1.5: Support called back the next morning and immediately took all the information needed and will get tech support to contact me in 24 hours. That being said, the vacuum started it's scheduled task this morning with no issues but of course did not do 2 scheduled tasks last night due to the error so hopefully tech can figure out what is going on.** **Update 2: tech got back that it was a known issue they were working on and I haven't had any further issues so seems to have been fixed. The baseboard attachment did break off the other night and based on where it was found, it seems to have been caught on my stair spindles. I couldn't find it online as an option to purchase a replacement but support responded to my email inquiry quickly and is sending a replacement.** I have had this for 2 weeks now and am ultimately glad I pulled the trigger and bought this though the price (even at $400 off) was a hard pill to swallow. To start, mapping was fairly quick and easy and it isn't hard to add rooms later if needed. I had it map just the main living areas at first, blocking the bedrooms, bathrooms, laundry room, etc. at first. It did notice the mudroom was more dirty on its very first cleaning mission and it went back for a second pass after it emptied it's collection from the first. It doesn't get as close to the corners as I would like but then again it is rounded. I also have a lot of angles that would be difficult even if it was square so it's not a deal breaker. I've had a few of my small rugs stop it up occasionally (it was very easy to pick up the vacuum to "untangle" it) so I bought rug tape to stop that from happening. The rugs amd carpets have not gotten wet from the mop pads even when running vaccum and mop simultaneously as the vacuum recognizes the different flooring. The app needs to allow for angles as I have a large shag rug I can't label as "no go" due to the angle it is at (corner fireplace and the rug is parallel with it). Fortunately the vacuum notices it's there and that it is too thick for it so it goes around it and the app does allow for me to label that rug to go around and not go over. The baseboard attachment works great for my cabinets toe-kick but is not large enough for my larger baseboards. We have 2 females in this house so lots of hair and when I finally added the bedroom with the most hair to the mapping (teen girl), it would roll up the hair as it vacuumed but would leave them in piles around the carpet; it did this the first 3 or 4 times vacuuming that room but the most recent time there were no hair balls so I guess the carpet just had too much hair as I know it wasn't vacuumed regularly. I did have it vacuum that room 2x immediatelyafter it first mapped it knowing it needed it but didn't think to increase the suction power so I will update the schedule for that room to increase the suction going forward just incase. At least the hair was in balls you could easily grab 🙃 and after looking at the brushes (and cleaning the zero-tangling floating brush that is purple in the picture) nothing was tangled around them so it must have just been the large amount of hair that has been brushed out over the past few weeks without vacuuming. I have noticed the vacuum runs out of water for large areas but kept mopping with dry pads as I saw no water residue at all; it eventually went back for a refill but it made several dry passes. I don't usually have it do that large room all at once and break it up in zones due to how big it is (living, dining and kitchen open concept). When it mops, it dries fairly quickly and doesn't leave a sticky residue once dry. I have a combination of engineered hardwood, carpet, tile and vinyl with rugs spread out on the hard floors in certain areas. I love being able to set different cleaning schedules and cleaning functions for the areas in our home. After running it daily for 2 weeks now with slowly increasing the rooms to include I am happy overall. I have to empty the dirty water usually every day as well as refill the clean tank but that is due to vacuuming and mopping nearly 2800 sqft daily (I still have one room and bathroom to add to the map). The dirty water tank has definitely been more clear as the days have gone so that I will be reducing the mopping down to just certain areas daily or as needed and just run the vacuum daily and the mop maybe every 3 or 4 days for the rest of the house. I did have to manually empty the dust collecting bag looking for a toy (spoiler: it wasn't in there) and was shocked at how much dust, dirt and hair was in there so it has been doing a great job getting my floor cleaned. One fairly important issue for me was the vacuum going over a floor outlet. It is raised slightly compared to the engineered hardwood and I have child safe plugs in it. After a few days of going over the area for vacuuming and mopping, the vacuum eventually was able to pull one of the plugs out so I've made that a "no go" zone on the app and will just manually clean around it. The few times that the vacuum had issues and was stuck (on rugs or a floor vent), it was very easy to find due to the app and even the camera feature as I could see what was in front of it and know where it was at. The app tells me nearly everything that is wrong or what needs attention except for when the clean water is out, then it only tells me it is paused. The base announces that the clean water tank is empty but for some reason the app doesn't and I am of course not always near the base to hear it so the app needs an update to send me notices about the clean water tank as well. Overall, it has been a life saver for me and my household schedules. Hopefully it keeps working great.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 6 months of ownership and zero regrets
*by K***T on May 15, 2025*

I have owned a few robotic vacuums and a robotic mop over the years, so wanting to spend even more money on yet another device left me feeling more than skeptical. I have owned the Narwal for 6 months now, using it weekly to vacuum and mop multiple areas of my house, including both wood and tile floors, and I have no regrets on this purchase. To be able to push a button and this device literally does all the work of vacuuming and mopping the floors is amazing. It gets under furniture, in corners, and detects items lying on the floor and maneuvers around them so they don't become "dinner" for the Narwal. As a bonus, it also dusts the baseboards as it goes along with a soft attachment on the side. The only effort I need to do is add water and empty dirty water for the mop and occasionally replace the waste bag. The mop heads are self-cleaning and they actually clean really well. They are white cloth and the Narwal auto-detects when it is time to go back to the station for a cleaning. I didn't think it would actually keep the mop heads white, but after 6 months, they are as white as the day I first used them. It also auto dries the mop heads when it is done mopping so no mold or mildew after. Previous robotic vacuums I owned would get stuck and I had to hunt them down under furniture because there was no way to know where it got stuck unless you happened to see it or hear an alert. The Narwal, on the unusual occasion it does get stuck somewhere (which doesn't happen often), it tells you right on the app exactly where it is located, so no hunting. What a concept! The best part, it is quiet. When I read other reviews saying the Narwal was quiet, I thought, "No way". I had to pause every other vacuum I ever owned to talk on the phone or watch TV. Not the Narwal. It can vacuum and mop while I sleep and it doesn't disturb me at all. I have cats who hated my previous vacuums, beating on it and running from it because the device was so loud and the cats were "chased" by it. With the Narwal, the cats actually walk right up to it and aren't scared of it because of how quiet and predictable it is. When the Narwal detects a cat, it stops. When you first set up your Narwal on the app, it asks if you have any pets, so it can detect pets in your home during task completion. Predictability in performance is so important. Other vacuums drive around haphazardly, and you hope it happens to get every area of your home. They also need need to return to the base to charge, but it doesn't exactly know where the base is, so it drives around aimlessly until it gets within range and then tries to dock, but gets it wrong over and over and has to keep trying. Sound familiar? Yeah, not the Narwal. The Narwal always knows where the base is. When it needs to go back to the base it goes straight there, drives in to the base the first time like precision. You never realize how annoying other vacuums are until you get the Narwal and you don't have to settle for inadequacy anymore. Now you are probably thinking, this sounds great, but what are the drawbacks? If you want something that is the equivalent of scrubbing the floors on your hands and knees, this isn't it. It isn't 100% perfect. Yes, you will find the occasional crumb still on the floor after vacuuming and you aren't going to eat off your floor after it's done mopping. This isn't a professional cleaning service. It's a robotic device, so I would say manage your expectations. I didn't go into this expecting perfection, so I'm okay with this being really good, not absolutely perfect. It has saved me from a lot of labor, and that matters to me as a person with chronic health conditions. The app has a number of settings and it took me a while to figure out where all the settings are, but I appreciate that it has those customizations. If you don't feel comfortable with technology and app use, that might be a drawback for you. But you could just simply use the buttons on the Narwal unit itself rather than the app for operation. A pro tip: use the lock feature on the unit to lock the buttons. My cat started using the Narwal as a perch and accidentally started pressing buttons. He felt all powerful at his newfound skills in being able to launch the device all on his own!
