I bake the round loafs and put it down on the board (which has suction cups for no slippage) and once the blade fins it bite is cuts through the bread effortlessly. Only thing I would say to watch out for is for a round loaf, once half the piece is through the slicer you need to hold it so the handle doesn't hit it.
