I have never had a problem with mold before and I don't use weights. I typically use the original metal lids that come with mason jars and cover with lots of water, making sure to pack my veggies very tightly. I do get a problem with rust sometimes with metal lids.Also, I was tired of cracking open my jars every day to let the gas escape. I thought these would make life easier. I used them with the metal ring. I found that the green lid kept disconnecting from the metal ring and falling down into the jar beneath the water line. This was very frustrating. I also never heard the gasses escaping when I pinched the lid. Because of these problems, two of my jars out of 4 ended up coved in thick white mold. I don't want to say the product is bad because it could be my method. I will try again with weights using these green lids. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Very satisfied *by R***A on December 12, 2018* I am very satisfied with these. They did just what I needed them to do. I used mine to ferment organic raw honey and garlic cloves. After a few days you would get a slight scent of garlic in the kitchen which meant they were doing what they were suppose to do. I would recommend these if you are canning something that needs to be "burped". Very happy with them. I got 5 for 8.99 not bad. I did however have to cut one to fit since I didn't have wide mouth jar. It still worked well! ### ⭐ fitno it dont fit over jar opening all the way *by N***M on April 2, 2019* was going to return them but amazon wont let me, save the 8$ these are to small for the wide mouth mason jar, will let air in after putting on the rimng it will move the top away from lip of jars..
