The size listed is way to small for the American. I'm normally a small to medium and, based on reviews of the coat, ordered a large. It fits, but the upper torso seems a bit short. Overall length is great. The pockets are in an unfortunate place. For me (I'm 5'6) they landed high on the hip and bulged out. I removed them and was able to steam out the pocket impression lines so they're barely noticeable, if at all. Overall, i recommend the coat.
