I wanted them to be tight and that is what they were! They are stretchy to some degree, but not like spandex. I would say these are true to size so if you want something tight like the photo pictured purchase your size, but if you want to be able to breath a little, I would say to go up a size. She normally wears a medium and that's what she ordered. When she put them on she said she wished she ordered a large and thought they were a little tight. They fit me and I usually wear a small. She didn't care for the material they were made out of. She didn't end up wearing them. If you are looking for black leather pants they are nice and stretchy. Also the high waist holds your stomach in which is nice. They are very comfortable.
