While it is not nearly as good as "Champions Worldwide" (the gold standard for this type of book) it is still pretty solid, with high production values and full color illustrations. The characters presented aren't as inventive or detailed as in "Champions Worldwide", and rely a lot on the Character Archetypes presented in the MM Core Book, but some show flashes of creative brilliance. It would also have been nice if more English translations had been provided for some of the character's names. However, it is an entertaining read, as it has a lot of good ideas for a campaign. I would think most users of this product could look up a summary of a country's history separate from this book, especially the numerous ones listed here that have nothing interesting going on in the writeup. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Gelungen - mit etwas Luft nach oben *by P***C on Reviewed in Germany on July 10, 2017* Ich finde bereits seit langem, dass MUTANTS AND MASTERMINDS das durchdachteste Superhelden-Rollenspiel auf dem Markt ist… obwohl ich White Wolfs „Aberrant“ nahezu gleichauf sehe. Die Stärke von MUTANTS AND MASTERMINDS ist in meinen Augen seine Flexibilität – und natürlich auch seine ausgezeichnete Unterstützung, welche nunmehr in die dritte Auflage geht.MUTANTS AND MASTERMINDS baut auf dem allseits bekannten „D20 System“ auf - allerdings wurde dieses System drastisch umgeschrieben, es spielt sich sehr zügig und erlaubt eine sehr freie Wahl des Settings, von fast gottgleichen Helden bis hin zu etwas härteren Vigilanten ist hier eigentlich alles problemlos erstell- und spielbar.In Punkto Hintergrund ist zu sagen, dass MUTANTS AND MASTERMINDS von Anfang an als generisches Rollenspiel gedacht war – es aber das Grundsetting „Earth Prime“ gibt, welches (ähnlich wie „Marvel Earth“ oder dem DC Universum) einer an die Superhelden-Bedürfnisse angepassten, phantastischeren Version unserer Erde entspricht.Im hier rezensierten ATLAS OF EARTH PRIME wird dieses Setting näher beschrieben. Es geht also auf eine weltumspannende Tour, jeder Kontinent und viele Nationen werden kurz angerissen und unter Superhelden-Gesichtspunkten beleuchtet, und natürlich werden auf nahezu jeder Seite typische lokale Helden- und Schurken mitsamt Werten vorgestellt. Das Buch macht hierbei bei der uns bekannten erde nicht halt, sondern geht natürlich auch – genreentsprechend - auch auf Paralleldimensionen oder Atlantis ein.Ich muss nach der Lektüre feststellen: der ATLAS OF EARTH PRIME ist wirklich „gut“, aber irgendwie nicht „sehr gut“. Ein typisches 4 Sterne Produkt, also.Insgesamt ist das Buch durchaus gelungen, ich selbst finde allerdings manche Schilderungen etwas arg kurz geraten – gerade bei der Beschreibung der Helden und Schurken hätte man etwas mehr darauf eingehen können, wie sich ihre Kräfte manifestieren, eben, was dieses NSCs im Spiel bemerkenswert macht. Ein paar Karten einiger Locations wären auch schön gewesen… und mitunter ist schade (aber sicherlich genretypisch), dass manche Helden sehr stereotyp zu ihrem Heimatland geschildert werden, etwas origineller hätte so manche Figur ruhig sein dürfen. Als letztes Detail mag erwähnt werden, dass zumindest die deutschen Namen einmal mehr katastrophal falsch geschrieben wurden – nicht, das dies in die Bewertung einfließt, aber ich werde nie verstehen, wieso derartige „Wortschöpfungen“ heutzutage noch notwendig sind, mit einfachem googeln könnte man doch so etwas verhindern.Bei aller Kritik sei bemerkt: insgesamt ist der ATLAS OF EARTH PRIME dennoch interessant, schlichtweg weil er durchaus lesenswert ist und er auch viele gute, schräge oder originelle Ideen enthält; außerdem ist die Aufmachung wirklich gelungen und die zahlreichen Illustrationen im charakteristischen MUTANTS AND MASTERMINDS einmal mehr sehr stimmig.Alles in allem ein Quellenbuch, was eigentlich jedem Spielleiter eines Superhelden-RPGs empfohlen werden kann und für MUTANTS AND MASTERMINDS Runden definitiv eine echte Bereicherung darstellt.
