Review: How to make a dumb door smart - January 2023, I have a 10 year old Chamberlain MyQ door opener. Works great and no where near obsolescence. Battery backed up type, with the dreaded 'yellow' learn button. I wanted to have better control and monitoring of the door, so I looked into WiFi connected upgrades. Chamberlain was ignorant and unsupportive as to their upgrade for this model opener...they could not give me a yes or no if it would work. So I kept on looking at the various make and models of WiFi interfaces available. The awesome power of the desertcart... Then I came across eKyro. At first I was suspicious of the low cost, but at least they EXPLAINED the differences between opener brands/models, and how their WiFi control module can work with almost any of them. They also, and more importantly, have a website that actively aids in determining if their module will work with your model opener, and offer an adapter to make pretty much any model opener work with their control module. Note that the adapter (at this time of writing) is FREE -if you need it for your particular make/model/vintage door opener. You must request it via their website and submit your desertcart order # to get it. The usual quick delivery of both items, although the adapter was direct from eKyro -and free shipping. Installation American English instructions and fairly well documented (text and pictorial) in the included paperwork, but also on Utube. Simple install. It took me longer to install the door open/closed sensor, than to wire the module to the door opener. I struggled with the app on my iPhone 6 getting it to WiFi pair to my local network, but it was because I was dense, not due to eKyro. Curiously, before I started the install, eKyro contacted me via desertcart to ask how the install was going. I admitted stupidity and they kindly directed me to the 'alternate' method and utube tutorials. Kudos due because that kind of after sale support is rare these days. Shortly after that I completed the install, pairing/functional testing of the system, but only after some careful technical review, I realized the mistakes I made and got everything going. I am tech savvy...shame on me. Your mileage may vary, but eKyro will actively help you through any difficulty. The app Simple download/install. A little funky navigating within but I guess that is an extension of the programmer(s). The app is capable of operating numerous IoT gadgets. Long list... I suppose that it great for the future. I will not be using it with siri, alexa or other AI stuff, so I cannot comment on that. Flexible/configurable. I dont know yet if it tries to connect with servers in China or elsewhere. Overall, a very positive experience. I hope this stuff lasts the test of time. Dependability and durability is the name of this game. Judging from the innards of the adapter module, I can say the electronics are of high quality and workmaship. Excellent value! On a skill scale of 1 to 10 to integrate to your system(s) a 4.
Review: Works Great! - I originally had a MyQ smart garage door controller, but after replacing my opener with a Genie unit, I could never get the MyQ system to connect. The instructions mention that it may take several attempts, but after numerous tries, I eventually gave up. I also purchased an older Mercedes that has built-in garage door controls, but it would not connect either. I'm not sure why, but I assume the MyQ unit may be more sensitive to third-party devices. To be fair, the unit I had was an open-box purchase and was a couple of model generations old. Another concern for me is leaving a garage door opener in the car, especially when the car is parked in the driveway. That makes it far too easy for someone to gain access to both the garage and the house. I considered the Genie Aladdin system, but the cost was higher than I wanted to spend, so I decided to try the eKyro instead. My garage door opener was listed as compatible, and eKyro offers an adapter if needed, which gave me confidence it would work. Installation was straightforward. You do need to connect a few wires, but the instructions are clear and easy to follow. The only challenge I had was finding the right location for the door sensor magnet that tells the app whether the door is open or closed. Interestingly, the system seemed to function even before I had the magnet installed correctly. After some trial and error, I found a good mounting location and got the open/closed status working properly. Part of this problem was due to my door being older and moving around more than what a newer installation would. The app has worked great. I now have access to my garage door from my phone no matter which vehicle I'm driving, and I can leave my car in the driveway without worrying about giving someone easy access to a garage door remote. For my needs, the eKyro turned out to be a practical and affordable solution.

**Q: compatible with overhead door standard drive 650?**
A: This device wires in parallel with the button that is already on your garage wall. So, this device doesn't care what brand or model of garage door opener you have (just as the simple button on your garage wall doesn't care either). That what makes it so wonderful—it works with any brand or model. :-)

**Q: What is the warranty?**
A: We have a 1 year warranty but if it’s past 1 year we will still send replacements if your devices fails.

**Q: How does the eKyro work with multiple garage doors?**
A: Each garage door will will need a eKyro Garage Door Opener/Controller. Once you've paired them both to the Smart Life app you will simply name the garage doors different names and you can open/close/check them independently.

**Q: Is this works with a Guardian 315**
A: Hello, yes it is compatible.

Depending on the type it might need an adapter. The “jumper test” can be done to easily check if an opener will need an adapter and we have a video on how to perform the jumper test at go.ekyro.com/gds1 at about 1:26 in the video.

I usually do not ever leave 5 stars reviews, but this company deserves a bit of praise for standing behind their product and having great customer service. Easy set-up and install, directions are spot on. Definitely worth the money.
