I am relatively new to Matcha tea drinking, so can really on comment on what I like, and don't proclaim to be an expert tea-master in any shape or form.Firstly the colour: its a khaki green, but with a milky wash in there. Compared with some of the other matcha teas I have been drinking; this is lighter and they were a much deeper green.Bitterness: A lot of the bitterness depends on how you make it. Boiling water = bitter tea. My preferred method is fast and effective. I use one of those drinking flasks for cars where you push a button to drink. I put in a heaped teaspoon of tea, add in about 2cm of cold tap water, put the lid on, then shake vigourously for 10 seconds. This breaks up all the lumps and prevents the tea getting shocked by hot water. My kettle has an 85 degree setting on it, and I then use water at 85 degrees to top up. I then shake vigoursly again. The result is consistently nice non-bitter tea with smooth bubbles, no lumps, little mess and it's super fast. You can pour and serve in a dainty bowl or mug, or drink from the flask. Apologies to all tea-masters. Anyway, this tea prepared this way is not bitter.Foam: Seems to be consistent and green.Smell: There are hints of green cut grass, but not as strong as other teas. Nothing bad though, just not as in your face with the cut grass.Taste: Overall, quite pleasant. Gentle and given the way I make it; not bitter.Price: OK this is the critical point. The price. WOW. My first Matcha tea from Amazon cost £9.99 for 30g or 33p per gram. That seems to be fairly common for the small tins with even smaller bags inside. This big beast of a 500g bag was £21.58 when I purchased it; which works out at 4.3p per gram.
