I NEVER put these types of pans in the dishwasher or use soap. I treat them like a cast iron pan. Hot water and a soft scrub brush is all that is needed after each use. I got 10 years of service from my T-Fal non-stick pan this way, so if I get 10 years out of this Tramontina, I will be very happy with the purchase. Here are a couple pictures of a one egg omelette. I used just a drop of olive oil, and it slid right out. The second picture shows the pan sitting flat and not tipping. That's what "hard anodized" refers to. The outside coating is, as far as I know, not toxic, but what's underneath, the teflon, contains PFOAs, and other stuff, which are purported to be carcinogens aka toxins. If you chip or scratch the anodized coating, then you're exposed to PFOAs and not good stuff, just like with non-anondized teflon. At least, that's what I found when I researched it about 10 years ago. The nonstick quality is superb. Nothing sticks and pan wipes clean before washing. This is my go to pan as I love how I don't have to heat up the burner all the way to high to cook, medium to medium high works fine. There is even heat distribution as well so all the food in the pan gets cooked. Before purchasing this I tried Hexclad and did not like it as I tried the fried egg test and it stuck. When this pan arrived, I did the test and it slid right out of the pan.
