Proven to reduce tick bites by over 73 times, it repels more than 55 insect species including mosquitoes carrying West Nile and Zika. Ideal for outdoor enthusiasts, it treats clothing, tents, and gear with EPA-recommended dosing, maintaining effectiveness through sweat and water exposure. Trusted by professionals and adventurers alike, it’s the ultimate defense for your active lifestyle. ## Description For use on clothing, tents, sleeping bags, and other outdoor gear, Sawyer Permethrin repels or kills disease-spreading ticks (Lyme disease), mosquitoes (West Nile and Zika viruses) and more than 55 other kinds of insects. Perfect for camping, backpacking, hunting, travel, backyard BBQs, picnics, and more. Permethrin insect and tick repellent adds an odorless layer of protection to shirts, jackets, pants, socks, shoes, sleeping bags, tents, netting, and other outdoor, camping, hunting, and travel gear. A University of Rhode Island study (2017) found that people wearing Permethrin-treated shoes and socks were 73.6 times less likely to have a tick bite than those wearing untreated footwear. Using it on outdoor gear also helps reduce the mosquito population in your camp and prevents ticks from attaching to you. Permethrin spray bonds to fabric fibers for up to 6 weeks (42 days) of exposure to sun or 6 washings. Sawyer Permethrin does not come out from sweat or water contact. It only degrades via UV exposure or the agitation of a washing machine. Specially formulated not to stain or damage your clothing, other fabrics, gear, and equipment, it's odorless after drying and is as effective as 100% DEET. To apply, spray Permethrin directly onto clothing and gear with a slow sweeping motion, keeping the bottle about 6 to 8 inches away, and treating each side of the garment for about 30 seconds. The EPA recommends using 4.5 ounces of Permethrin to spray each outfit (consisting of shirt, pants, and socks). Maximize protection by pairing with Sawyer Picaridin topical repellent for the skin. Sawyer Products has offered the best, most technologically advanced solutions for protection against sun, bugs, water, and injuries – everything from first aid kits developed for wilderness to point-of-use water filters that filter contaminated water to levels cleaner than U. S. bottled water. ## Features - Permethrin spray bonds to fabric fibers for up to 6 weeks or through 6 washings (whichever comes first) won't stain or damage clothing, fabrics, plastics, finished surfaces, or outdoor gear; fragrance free - Reduce likelihood of a tick bite by 73.6 times by treating shoes and socks with Permethrin (University of Rhode Island study - 2017); maximize protection by pairing with Sawyer Picaridin topical repellent for the skin - Add a layer of protection to your clothing and gear with Permethrin insect and tick repellent spray — perfect for use on shirts, jackets, pants, socks, shoes, boots, sleeping bags, tents, netting, when outdoors, camping, hunting, or on travel - Ideal for backpacking, backyard BBQs, hunting, and other outdoor activities, it's effective against more than 55 kinds of insects — from disease-spreading ticks (Lyme) and mosquitoes (West Nile & Zika) to chiggers, spiders, mites, and more - Sawyer Permethrin stays effective despite sweat or water, degrades via UV exposure or washing machine agitation; Each 18-ounce convenient aerosol spray treats 4 outfits (EPA now reconmends 4.5 ounces per outfit consisting of shirt, pants, and socks) ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | Asin | B07FFDV7ZV | | Department | unisex-adult | | Is Discontinued By Manufacturer | No | | Item Model Number | SP618 | | Manufacturer | Sawyer Products | | Product Dimensions | 6.99 x 6.99 x 27.94 cm; 662 g | ## Product Details - **Brand:** Sawyer - **Item form:** Aerosol - **Item volume:** 18 Fluid Ounces - **Material features:** Fragrance Free - **Scent:** Unscented ## Images ![Products SP618 Premium Permethrin Insect Repellent for Clothing, Gear & Tents, Aerosol Spray, 18-Ounce - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/61+MyyVzcEL.jpg) ## Questions & Answers **Q: Can this be used on chinlon fabric?** A: you could test small portion -chinlon can be less durable fabric although I have used on nylon, polyester, spandyx, lycra **Q: By mistake i sprayed my pants inside out. fabric is really really thin, so they're soaking. should i just leave them like that? are they ok to wear?** A: Wait till they dry first **Q: Does it kill fleas?** A: Yeah, it would certainly kill fleas and almost anything else that would touch it. Be careful about that though, it's not good for cats and small pets to touch it. So you definitely can't use it on a pet, and shouldn't use it in an area that might have pets later. But if you've got a flea issue to fix and no pets, sure. **Q: Will permethrin prevent yellow jackets from landing on my clothing?** A: Sawyer Products Premium Permethrin Clothing Insect Repellent will provide repellent action against yellow jackets, however, use of a personal repellent on exposed skin is recommended. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Incredible invisible shield against aggressive mosquitoes! *by on Reviewed in the United States 27 August 2026* I used to get eaten alive through my clothes while working in my garden—my arms and legs would be covered in painful, itchy bumps. I sprayed this on my gardening clothes outdoors and let them dry completely before wearing them. The difference is night and day!During peak mosquito hour in the late afternoon, they hovered around me as if blocked by an invisible wall. They couldn't land on my clothes or bite through them anymore. By the end of my garden work, the surrounding mosquitoes had completely cleared out. Just make sure to apply it outdoors in a well-ventilated space and let the fabric dry 100% before wearing. Highly recommended for any serious gardener! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ SAWYERS PYRETHRIN *by on Reviewed in the United States 2 September 2026* REPELS TICKS FOR TWO WEEKS. Spray outside on clothing only.
