The P-38 is known as a "John Wayne" by the United States Marine Corps, either because of its toughness and dependability or because of an unsubstantiated story that the actor had been shown in an as-yet-unidentified training film opening a can of K-Rations. The can opener is pocket-sized, approximately 1.5 inches (38 mm) long, and consists of a short metal blade that serves as a handle, with a small, hinged metal tooth that folds out to pierce the can lid. Place the notch of the can opener on the rim of the can with the blade inside the rim 3. Twist the blade down so that it punctures the lid of the can 4. Repeat twisting while turning the can 5. Be careful removing the lid. The lid will be sharp - HOW TO CLOSE THE CHAINS - Put one ball in the connector and pull the chain from each side away from the connector until the chain 'snaps' into the connector. These are real US military stainless steel chains and are a bit harder to get connected. It may take a good tug to get it to snap into place. Don't be afraid, these are US Military chains.
