Neither is enough to stop movement, but certainly enough to remind you every time not to extend your hand and thumb beyond the safe angles, and thus help to avoid pain at the end of the day. The built in wrist rest is a pouch of small plastic beads, and actually quite comfy for getting that extra bit of height for using a built in laptop trackpad. Not enough support for a serious medical problem, but enough to hopefully prevent it getting that bad if you are starting to feel the ache in your hands at the end of the day. I have the beginnings of arthritis in my hands, and these really help me.
