A: Send it back. It is faulty and should stop when you release the button.

**Q: Will this work on a 3 liter bottle? The bottle opening on the 3L is larger that a 750ml so wondering if the fit will be the same?**
A: It needs to fit snugly over the bottle opening and seal. It fits a standard wine bottle, so if the opening of your bottle is wider, it would not fit.
