The diameter is 0.118 inch or 3.0 mm. The stainless steel probe is 3 inch (7.5cm) long and has a spring loaded strain relieve. It comes with a quality miniature K-type thermocouple connector which has blades made from compensating metal chromel / alumel. The thermocouple plug has a brass strain relieve. The wire has a fiber glass inner insulation and stainless steel outer braid. The digital K-type thermometer has a large, easy to read display, it features one K-type thermocouple input and runs on a normal 9V battery (included). This k-type thermometer and thermocouple probe can be used for a wide range of applications and is protected from most corrosive substances. This k-type thermocouple can be mounted in ovens, kilns or furnaces. It is also used to monitor machines and liquids in industrial processes. Both operate in temperatures up to 750 degrees F.I felt well-treated from the very start. Most companies on Amazon, I have found, are very prompt in responding to consumer messages and will bend over backwards to accomodate the smallest request.I encourage all who read this review always to contact the seller, instead of going straight to Amazon. The only problem is that the "on" switch tends to turn on while in my bag and run the battery out.
