The elastic is strong and my ankle feels very well supported wearing it. I measured my ankle at 13 inches and decided to take the 12-13 inch Medium size. Having worn these kind of things before, I knew it had to feel good and tight. It does the job perfectly and doesn't block circulation at all. No cold toes at all and I kept it on all day. I even had a wee run in it to see how that felt. I was a bit worried the edge might be tight on the foot but it's not doubled over at the toe end so it's a good feeling over socks and inside roomy shoes. All in all, I'm very impressed and might even take a few more so I've got enough for daily use.
