## Description

MULTIPLE INTERNATIONAL AWARD WINNER | ESTATE COLLECTION | TRACEABLE FROM FARM TO YOUR TABLE VIA LOT NUMBER ON EACH TINNoted for its warm, buttery flavor and notes of black pepper, the Terra Creta Estate Kolymvari Extra Virgin Olive Oil. The olive leaves are fed to farm animals, the water from washing is used for irrigation, and the pits warm up the olive mill water. The Terra Creta mill and bottling plant are certified for oil production and are proudly a plasticizer-free factory. A plasticizer is a substance (typically a solvent) added to a synthetic resin to promote plasticity, flexibility, and reduce brittleness. In many factories around the world, plasticizers can be found in plastic tubes and equipment; however, medical research has shown plasticizers to be highly carcinogenic. No plastic materials ever come in contact with Terra Creta olive oil as it could contaminate the oil. We recommend to our consumers that they never purchase olive oil supplied in plastic containers.Terra Creta's goal is to produce the highest quality products nature can provide, improving the health and well-being of people the world over.Once you obtain your purchase, you can trace where the olives from your olive oil were harvested. Every Terra Creta bottle has a Lot number stamped on it where you can go to the Terra Creta Traceability Tree, type in your Lot number, and zoom into the portion of Terra Creta Estate where the olives from your bottle were grown. This brings home the point that what you purchased has a precise, traceable history that leads you to the Kolymvari region on the island of Crete.

Review: Smooth Flavor, Great Quality - I’ve been really impressed with Terra Creta olive oil. It has a smooth, fresh taste with a nice balance of fruity and slightly peppery notes. I've been using it for all my cooking needs as well as on my salads and breads. The flavor is high quality without being overpowering. This is now my favorite Olive oil and elevates everyday meals.
Review: Thank You, Athena!!!! - In some ways, I really am spoiled. I realize that as a former educator, living on a former educator's salary, this statement might seem odd. However, I'm absolutely serious and this olive oil helps to prove my point. Enter Terra Creta Olive Oil. As we all know, olive oil was a gift to the Greeks, courtesy of the goddess Athena. It is olive oil that largely built the ancient Greek economy and thus promulgated Greek culture through the ancient world by means of economic exchange. That exchange was fostered by the highly prized olive oil that was acknowledged as the world's best. To this day, Greece is fiercely protective of the reputation of its olive oil--and rightly so. In its pure, unadulterated form, it is a glorious addition to your kitchen's staples, adding flavor, polish and nutrition to a wide array of dishes. Unfortunately, if you don't live in Greece--or in the EU--your olive oil is probably NOT unadulterated in some form. In the EU, Greek olive oil is protected by strict labeling and production laws so that the consumer can be assured of getting an authentic product, and thus an authentic experience. Here in the States, there are no such nation-wide laws, so the olive oil we get--even the extra virgin--is adulterated by other oils, or at least a pastiche of different regions, producers, etc., who are committed to driving down costs more than they are to producing excellent oils. The Terra Creta is an emphatic disavowal of this practice. It is an estate-produced oil created under exacting, heavily monitored conditions, with each can getting a unique label (see picture above), which functions as a birth certificate, more or less, so that you can practically trace the moment it was harvested. All of this effort reaps rewards for the consumer. This oil is a revelation compared to the pathetic stuff that you get at the average supermarket. It's vivid, earthy and fills the mouth with subtle notes that lean more towards the fruity end (at least in my experience; some have said it comes across as a bit more on the peppery side). In any case, it is truly excellent for dipping bread, making salad, making garlic butter, or anything that requires a moderate base note and delicate upper notes of olive flavor. As for the cost, you look at the price of the tin and think, "wow, that's a bit excessive." You'd be wrong. Look at how much you get and then figure a per-ounce cost vs. the "extra virgin" you get at the supermarket. Then, think about how what you eat becomes a part of you. Then, think about how short life is and how we should seize those beautiful pleasures that are within our reach while we can. Does it seem expensive now?

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Is this shipment the 2019 harvest? The only recent review indicates the oil was rancid and the rest are from 2016-17. Is this an old can?**
A: I read that review, too. My takeaway was that buyer prefers Italian olive oil. As a Cretan, I can attest that this is an authentic Cretan olive oil with the typical fruity semi-astringent flavor from Cretan olives. My oil was not rancid, and it was packed with at least $10.00 worth of bubble wrap.

**Q: Is this really a Koroneiki oil? I just got it and nothing indicates this is really a Koroneiki oil as the product name indicates...**
A: Yes! It’s delicious and tastes like the Cretan sun.

**Q: What is the acidity %?**
A: Their website says the percentage of acidity is 0.55. Bon appétit.

**Q: Hello, i was thinking about buying the 3l oil but before that i wanted to know the expiration date for it. please someone answer asap!!?**
A: I bought a 3l can about 15 months ago. It had a date on it of 9/2019 when I received it, i.e. I received it one year before that date. I’m still using that oil same oil, having opened it only 5 months ago, and it is perfectly good tasting now, 3 months past that date.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great flavor.

Great olive oil. We’ve been using it for a few years. We were visiting Crete last year and realized Terra Creta was close to our Airbnb. We stopped by and bought their Grand Cru, “high art” oil which was beyond compare. I wish they would sell garlic-infused oil on Amazon. We brought a bottle back home and it was finished within weeks.
