Very well made, solid device.I am not using this for what I had originaly planed on. If you have a USB 3.1 type C charging port (or an adapter to convert your phone's input to USB type C) on your phone then the following is what you can us the hub for:Plug your phone's charger into the power port on this hub, then plug the hub's USB Type C out plug into your phone, this will keep your phone charged. This hub has an HDMI out port. Take an ordinary HDMI cable, plug one end into the hub and one end into a tv with an HDMI in port.That's about it, you can now use the tv as a monitor for your Android phone (may work with an Iphone). I paired a bluetooth mouse and keyboard with the phone. I have a full-blown Android desktop computer. Or a huge non-portable Chrome Book.The tv I am using is an off-brand 4k tv. Don't forget to change the tv over to the HDMI port that you have plugged the HDMI cable to on your tv.There are special cables that you can buy that have HDMI on one end and USB Type C on the other. With those cables there can be compatability issues. Also, unless you have wireless charging your phone's battery will drain and your phone's screen has to be on all of the time. Your phone's battery will not power the tv, just plug it into the wall as usual.You can at the same time just use your phone for navigation and typing instead of a bluetooth mouse and a keyboard, but using the bluetooth devices allows your phone's screen to go to sleep and not drain the battery faster than it can charge.I really didn't need to do any of this, I have a Windows desktop and a large screen Hauwei Mate 20 x phone, but my tethering plan only includes 10GB. This way I am using my phone's unlimited data plan for my phone.Unfortunately, few people will be searching for a HUB for the purpose that I am, but hopefully anyone who is looking for a hub with these features will read this review and find another use for it.I figured out the powered hub use myself, but you can (as I stated) use the one cable method, direct from the phone to a tv, but there are isues of compatability, your phone may need to support HDMI Alt mode for display over HDMI which my phone does support. According to an article I read on Google it doesn't mention HDMI Alt mode. I would search and find out if the phone you use supports it. The single cable method does mention devices that the cable is compatible with. My phone isn't listed but still works with the single cable. My phone is a brand new model, so it pretty much supports everything except wireless charging, that is why I started to think about using this hub and an ordinary HDMI cable. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great way to get networking on a macbook pro and still have three monitors *by M***S on Reviewed in the United States on December 23, 2018* I bought this because I needed to have Ethernet as well as a way to keep my computer powered and charging. I am using three of the four USB-C ports on my mac for external monitors, so this was a perfect solution.The only thing I've seen is that every now and then, I see that my computer is losing battery life, even when I have the power cord attached through this adapter. It's not a big deal, because it only gets down to 80%. I usually go to lunch by then and it's back to 100% after my lunch break.It doesn't always happen, though, so I'm not too worried. But, if you're a power user, this might have an impact on you. I use mine for running VMs in Parallels or VMWare as well as light Xamarin development in Visual Studio for mac. This simple device resolves the most common needs for my home office: external monitor, USB drives, power and Ethernet.I tested one other adapter like this, and both seem to overheat when the computer battery is charging. This device gets so hot that I had to improvise a simple stand made of metal to avoid any fire hazard by sitting directly on top of a wood desk.The only unexpected behavior I have found is that the router freezes when I disconnect the device from the Mac and I'm using the ethernet port. That is, the following configuration will freeze my Assus router when I unplug the adapter from the Mac: ethernet, power, HDMI attached to adapter --> adapter to Mac port.
