It's a bit firm but when you're really tense, you can unload a lot of pressure into it. When I'm upset or stressed or angry, I try to release my tensions into the ball. After a bit, I definitely feel a bit more relaxed from just letting that bad energy go. It's a great item to keep on desk or with you. I bought another because being a ball... well... my cats bat it around and it got lost, so I bought a new one.
