After all, one of the most important purchasing factors for any type of storage is "will my data be safe and secure". That is why I am now reviewing this SanDisk microSD Express card, having purchased it in November 2025 and using it in my Switch 2 for the past 8 months or so. Although the Switch 2 comes with a decent amount of storage compared to the first Switch, given the size of some Switch 2 titles such as Final Fantasy VII and the introduction of Game Key Cards, additional storage is once more an essential purchase. I had initially purchased a 256GB MicroSD, thinking that it would suffice for at least a year or two until 1TB solutions became more affordable. However, after less than six months of Switch 2 ownership, I had already consumed almost all of that space and it became clear that a larger MicroSD card would be a more immediate requirement than I had planned. Since Switch 2 games have much greater data bandwidth requirements than those for Switch 1, you must purchase a MicroSD Express card, rather than a MicroSD. The increase in speed is of course a plus point over the standard cards, but price and available storage size are two big negatives.
