I recently purged that old rusty one, because i liked looking at it but not actually drinking from it, so i decided to replace it. When it arrived my 6&8 year olds decided they wanted them too. However, this one is good for prolonged voyages. I love the soft blanket exterior. I have always loved this style of canteen. I used to watch a lot of westerns with my Granddad and I would see many of these types of canteens in the films. I find these to be a nice esthetic but also a good thing to have when you are outdoors doing a lot of heavy hoofing. I would say the only gripe is the strap it is a touch too small but nothing too much to worry about. I love how big it is; I got the 4 Qt and I love how it holds twice as much water as my others.
