They have adhesive on each end and it keeps the pads nice and secure. Just remember not to lay directly on area of your body where you place the heat pad (when lying down) because you can get a burn. Otherwise it’s heat is safe and just a wonderful warm relief for injury or arthritis pain. **Q: is this product odorless?** A: As we all have a different sense of smell, please only take my answer with a grain of salt; i.e., l do not detect any smell attached to this product. **Q: Does the ThermaCare heat pads ever expire?** A: I have used them 18 months after expiration. Maybe they were not as hot or lasted as long as non-expired wraps? But since the plague arrived, they are actually hard to find all the time now. So, I started ordering from this company & am really pleased with the price, delivery reliability & the actual product. This product actually really does work. I use it on my lower back/hips when I sleep primarily. But it works if I have to do errands in the day time also. I don't have any problem with it slipping/moving. It does get quite warm, so if you have "tender" skin try a package from your local store first. I have a friend who is super tender & touchy-she thought she could cut them in half- then would only get 1/2 the heat..wrong.
