The scales are grippy and solid. The shank is smooth and doesn't separate like swinglock types can do. The magnetic holder for keeping the blade in place is very handy. I shave with both hands and haven't had any trouble with the screw dragging while shaving lefty. If you look on the company's website you can find replacement parts for everything which I appreciate. So far the shaves have been delightful. It may seem pricy but I think it's worth it.
