With better power supply, it's possible to get 1.4V of bias voltage on 3.5mm jack.In third position marked as "1.5V/48V", the device provides 3.7V of bias voltage on 3.5mm mini-jack for electret microphone and 38.8 volts of phantom power for XLR condenser microphone. With Apple's power supply for iPad, it's possible to get up to 4.0V of bias voltage on 3.5mm jack.Sensitivity on XLR input is very low. I tried to connect two XLR condenser microphones to the preamplifier: Neewer NW-800 and AKG P120. In both cases, signal on output was weak, and output of preamplifier didn't have linear level definitely. When I connected preamp output into microphone input on my computer, I was able to get some signal, but quality of sound was low. Also, preamp doesn't provide +48 volts of phantom power for XLR condenser microphones as it's stated in manual. Actual voltage is only +38.8 volts, and it doesn't follow to audio standards.Also, I tried to use a couple of small electret microphones with Maker Hart preamplifier. Preamp worked pretty well with electret microphones, but amplification again didn't reach linear level for computer's linear input. Owner's manual in the box with Maker Hart preamp recommends to connect output of this device into microphone input of tablets and smartphones. Yes, it works. But I can connect electret microphones directly into microphone input of tablets and smartphones without any amplification.I wanted to use Maker Hart preamplifier with purpose to connect XLR condenser microphone into linear input of my computer. But Maker Hart preamp can't do such job properly because of very low sensitivity on XLR input, weak output level, and wrong +38.8V phantom power. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Exactly what I’ve been looking for. *by L***R on Reviewed in the United States on February 5, 2022* The MakerHart Mic Power has fixed a problem i’ve had tryin to solve for over a year:Get an Inexpensive Wireless mic with 1/4in input dongle to work with a portable “tailgate”suitcase speaker with only 3.5mm aux in port. The Mic Power (MP) does it perfectly: powered by the speakers usb port, I put mic 1/4in dongle (w/ 3.5mm adapter plug) into the MP audio in, TRRS cable from audio out to speaker Aux In - then just turn switch to “on” and adjusted the gain knob and Speaker volume as needed.Voice was clear, clean and as loud as needed. No distortion, slight background white noise until i found the right balance between Mic Power gain and speaker volume.Exactly what I’ve needed at a reasonable price. The base is 1.5V.
