Remember, it loads from the bottom not the back of the stapler. **Q: where does the spring go inside the sta0oer** A: I think you removed the spring in error. Staples are loaded ,upside down in the slot after you release the spring in the rear of the device. Once you put in the staples, push the spring "rod" back in to put pressure on the staples. If you did not obtain the correct staple type, the device will not work. I does not have a safety that prohibits accidental pulling the trigger. Leaving it plugged in while loading staples could result in a staple in the eye.
