Also does the wood need treating ?** A: There is a parasol hole in the middle of the bench. We found that as our bench was out in the hot sun, it did start to have small hair line cracks in the wood and faded a little, so we applied a protective wood stain on it. **Q: Is it easy to assemble without power tools?** A: No, not really. The wood is quite thick and you would need good tools to assemble it. Very sturdy build quality though - recommend. **Q: What is the best size waterproof cover to protect it ? Thank you** A: I love this picnic table! Sorry that my reply will not be the answer that you want. I looked at a few sites last year trying to find a good cover for the table but didn't find what I wanted. I live in Scotland and we can get a lot of snow and rain though this winter much more mild. I store the umbrella in two plastic bags and put it in a shed. I placed a large sheet of corrugated iron on top of the table during the winter and uncovered it when the snow was gone. When I purchased the table, we treated the wood and have not had any problems.
