The hand is made of rounded wood and the silicone material is smooth and sturdy that won't easily come off unless pulled hard. As I have used several other types like plastic handles, flimsy silicone part that bend unnecessarily and come off the handle, I could clearly find these spatulas are great and convenient to use that serves as an all-rounder for heated items (with non-plastic handle) and non-heat items like cake making, etc. I later bought an aqua green one and then as these white ones are in sale as an add-on item for less price, I bought two more. I mostly don't use the other types that come in sets. So, these fit my requirement.
