    An assault on your taste buds.  Not in a good way.

So... Like the other reviewer I was looking for a savory flavor protein bar instead of the usual fruity or candy bar flavored.  My goal is to increase protein intake as part of a weight loss dietary change. This product tastes absolutely terrible.  The beef flavor and texture reminded me of the beef Frank's MRE from my time in the Army. That kind of processes and pressed meat texture. Then comes the ginger wasabi flavoring. These are usually flavors that I enjoy. In this product they were not enjoyable in the slightest. The one and only bite I had of this bar was so bad I had to fight to swallow it. Now I understand taste is all based on personal preference. Perhaps my particular bar had gone bad or something because that's what came to mind as I was chewing it. If you absolutely must try this, buy a single serving from the grocery store first.

I am using these bars primarily as a recovery aide for endurance workouts. I am a runner, and cyclist and have become completely burned out on sweet drinks / bars. If I want a chocolate bar, I'm going to eat a chocolate bar, period. To make matters worse, I'm more than slightly lactose intolerant...I pair these 15g of protein with about 45g of carbs from 100% fruit juice or Gatorade, the slightly salty taste of the beef with these drinks is really a welcomed change for me.  I've tried drinks like Endurox, which are built around the principals of combining protien with your post workout carb intake...but I think they taste lousy.This stuff works, and tastes good. 'Nuff said.
