The power to the refrigerator had been accidentally disconnected for about a month before our arrival. Although we try not to leave anything in the fridge that would spoil if we lose power while we’re gone for the summer, we overlooked a package of frozen Brussels Sprouts in the freezer compartment. They were in an advanced state of decay and caused a terrific odor. Worse yet, they leaked liquid inside the back of the fridge where it was impossible to get to it to clean it up. We tried such things as baking soda and vinegar which did nothing. I was sure that we would have to junk the fridge because the smell was awful. Since the fridge was fairly new, however, I decided to risk the cost of this ozone air purifier. I held out little hope that it would help because the smell was so bad and we couldn’t clean up the leaked liquid. To my great surprise, after a few weeks (I don’t remember exactly how many, probably two or three) we started to notice the smell lessening. After a further few weeks the smell was almost gone. It probably took two to three months before we could no longer detect any odor. When we closed the house up last May we left the device fully charged in the fridge. Since it only goes for about a month on a charge, we thought the Brussels Sprouts odor might be detectable again by mid October when we returned, the fridge having been closed for five months without a working purifier. There was absolutely no smell however. The ozone purifier has completely and forever removed a smell that was so strong that I was sure couldn’t be removed. I recommend this device without reservation for removing refrigerator odors.
