Review: Does The Essentials But Not The Quality I Would Like For The Price - I wanted a solution that doesn't charge a monitoring fee to an external agency or require me to check a pay as you go SIM doesn't expire. This device seemed the best option. I does do this but the solution feels naff and is not as fool-proof as I would like. I can only store three numbers to phone which is a bit minimalist. I would have been happier with five. It allows you to record a message to play to the phone numbers called when the red button is pressed on the supplied wrist watch style SOS buttons. The recording is very brief at 6 seconds. It is also not easy to hear. It sounds distant and many would not be able to make it out. The recoded message is played continuously while all the numbers are dialled. However the message is played independent of whether or not somebody answers the phone and there is a long gap of silence in between each play of the recorded message. This means somebody could pick up the phone, hear silence, assume it is a marketing call or a fault and hang up before the unclear brief message is played. When tested on a couple of mobile phone numbers that went to voicemail, sometimes half the message is recorded and sometimes no message at all before the call ends. There is a reliance therefore for the caller to recognise the call for what it is. The unit cycles through the three numbers five times. That is to say the first number is called once, then the second once and finally the third once before the cycle is repeated 4 more times. To confirm the receiver understands the call for help, the receiver must press any number on their phone and the unit will stop the 3 X 5 ring cycle. However to the person who has pressed the red SOS button, there is no clear confirmation signal the help request has been understood and help is on it's way. In fact it sounds pretty much the same as if the entire 3 X 5 cycle has been dialled and machine has stopped it's response to the SOS button press. This therefore relies on the person who presses the button to recognise no help is coming yet and press the button again. It's true that the person receiving the call can talk down the phone and the box unit acts like a speaker so the button presser can hear 'OK I am coming' but the speaker is not very good and it will sound just like garbled noise to most elderly people. So it has it's shortfalls. At this price there are to many for me. My mother will most likely have a mobile phone to call for help if she falls but a wrist watch SOS button is to be a secondary backup as recently she fell and did not have the mobile phone on her. This resulted in a 4 hour period on the floor waiting for help one evening. We will try this solution for a while but I suspect I will end up paying for a monitored service at some point as this device has to many failure points in the process of calling for help.

### ⭐⭐⭐ The device works and does the essential task of sending out an alert to a carer.
*by L***S on 28 June 2020*

I use the alarm to alert me to a problem with my parents and can confirm it works from both in the house and in the garden. I bought this alarm because it came with wrist bands which looked 'less elderly' than the neck pendant. However, the wrist bands are uncomfortable and my father uses the neck pendant instead. The quality of the voice recording is poor to the point that it is totally unintelligible when replayed or when transmitted over the phone. If you need to hear a message then buy something else. Fortunately, all I need to see is the number of the my parents to know that the alarm has been activated.
