Size:10  |  Style:Lb BTMS-50 Conditioning Emulsifier, also known as Behentrimonium Methosulfate is a commonly used vegetable derived emulsifier. It can be used in hair conditioners, skin care products like creams and lotions and scrubs. In hair care products it is often referred to as a "detangler." BTMS-50 is also used to emulsify silicone, adding to its range in hair care products. BTMS 50 is in the category of the quaternary ammonium conditioners and the raw material is derived from the natural plant oil Colza, or what is commonly known as Rapeseed Oil. It is both a mild primary emulsifier and an effective conditioning agent, providing elegant feel when used in skin and hair care products. These types of conditioners when incorporated in to formulations leave hair tangle-free and feeling silky smooth and provide skin with a softer, powdery feel after use in skin products such as lotions and creams. The recommended usage rate is 1 – 12% .A more realistic guideline is usage around 5 to 7% in typical products like hair conditioner. Since this product contains a high percentage of the active conditioning agents it also often incorporated in to leave-on conditioning treatments as well as traditional rinse off hair care. This product contains no hazardous solvents and comes in an easy-to-work-with white pastille. Common Name: BTMS-50 Note: This product has a distinct odor that can be a surprise if you've never smelled it before. We've found that the odor isn't noticeable in finished products when used at 15% or less.
