Review: Kept my child engaged long enough that I ordered more kits - Finding screen-free activities that actually hold a child's attention can be surprisingly difficult. This one did. My child sat down intending to "just start one" and ended up spending a good chunk of the afternoon working on it. Between placing the gems and filling in the sections with the colored gels, there was enough detail to keep little hands busy without becoming frustrating. I liked that the gel dries fairly quickly, so there wasn't paint getting everywhere or projects sitting around for days waiting to dry. Once finished, the suncatchers looked great hanging in the window, which gave the whole activity a nice payoff at the end. This isn't a quick five-minute craft. It takes some patience and concentration, but that's actually part of what I liked about it. I could easily see this working well on a long flight, during a rainy weekend, or as a playdate activity where everyone has something to focus on. The only thing I'd change is the amount of gel paint included. We had enough to finish the projects, but I found myself encouraging my child not to use too much of certain colors because I wasn't completely sure there would be enough left for the remaining designs. For the price, getting four projects feels like good value. In fact, it kept my child engaged enough that I've already picked up a couple of the other kits in the series, although those will be gem only and won't have the gel detail. Either way, these kits are great for kids and even adults.
